Secured files stored in a members area will download rather than open in a new tab on an iPad
This is due to the file being hosted on a secure server with credentials required to access, rather than publically hosted on your website.
How to access the downloaded files
If the iPad browser has required a file download, rather than opening in a new tab you can quickly view the file by clicking the download icon, then the file. Screenshot below:
